How to get rid of acne

Dermatologist Victoria Filimonova helps patients cope with acne in their office and gives useful tips on 120 thousand subscribers. We asked her if there is a way to cure acne at home and which methods are the safest.

We asked Victoria about the urgent problem of acne and how to deal with it. Here's what she told us.
WHY DID NOT ACCESS AFTER 18 YEARS?
in the internal processes of the body.
REASONS FOR ACNE IN ADULTS
First of all, acne is associated with internal problems that need to be found and eliminated.
In addition to hormonal imbalance, a deficiency of nutrients - vitamins A and D, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and iron can affect the skin condition. To find out, you need to pass special tests and get advice from an endocrinologist.
Improper home care also does its job. Poor-quality creams, which contain comedogenic ingredients (causing inflammation) or plentiful application of foundation creams, and even elementary - using old sponges and brushes or dirty hands on the face - all this can provoke unpleasant rashes.
Of course, when it comes to acne, one must not forget about nutrition. Often, everything bad that we ate immediately leaves marks on our faces. I will tell you more about this below, but I’ll say right away that changing the diet will be useful in any case. Even if the underlying problem is not in the stomach, the foods you eat can cause inflammation. But read about it below.
In addition to this, stress (and what does it just not affect?) And hereditary predisposition periodically affect skin rashes. And if the first one can still be fought (again, I advise you to undergo an examination with an endocrinologist), then in the case of heredity, things are more complicated. But with an integrated approach to treatment and a clear understanding of the cause of the problem, this acne can be cured.
PRO FOOD
As I said earlier, the appearance of acne often depends on the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, treatment should begin from the inside, namely, to eliminate the increased acidity of the stomach (hypoacidity), stagnation of bile, leaky intestine syndrome, get rid of excessive growth of bacteria and fungi, and normalize peristalsis. And also to establish your diet and exclude some foods that can cause inflammatory processes in the body - dairy and gluten-containing foods, simple carbohydrates (including juices, dried fruits, and sweet fruits), trans fats, fast food, and more. It is necessary to add vegetable fiber, proteins, and healthy fats with a predominance of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (hello, salmon and avocado).
Why exactly these products? If you eat a lot of bread and rolls, excess growth of the Candida genus occurs in the body. Intestinal permeability is increased, which means that large molecules, microorganisms, and toxins can enter directly into the bloodstream. Skin problems are unavoidable - from acne to eczema, psoriasis, and hair loss.
As for dairy products, it is still simpler: milk contains sugar (lactose) and protein (casein), which are not always absorbed by the body (which is why adults are not recommended to drink milk). This leads to excessive growth of pathogenic microflora, irritable bowel syndrome, and fluid congestion. Bottom line: acne appears on the skin.

THE BIGGEST MISCELLANEOUS ACNE TREATMENT
The first and most common - acne can be cured by external therapy. No, that’s not enough. An integrated approach is required to eliminate acne. We are looking for the cause, eliminate it, and use external means. Often, consultations of several specialists are necessary - a dermatologist, gastroenterologist, parasitologist, ENT specialist, dentist, endocrinologist-gynecologist, because any chronic or sluggish inflammatory processes in the face and neck (caries, chronic tonsillitis, etc.) can affect the development of acne.
Many also believe in makeup. In fact, cosmetics, even the most expensive, can cause a skin reaction and make the situation worse. For example, I recommend completely replacing the foundation with mineral powder.
One of the craziest myths is that after the sun the skin becomes better. On the contrary, in most people, after returning from the sea, acne worsens. This is due to the fact that in the sun local immunity of the skin decreases and the epidermis thickens. As a result, sebum is difficult to evacuate, and exacerbation occurs. In addition, sunscreens, especially if they contain only chemical filters, can clog pores, which also has a negative effect. Look in the composition of both titanium dioxide and zinc oxide - these are physical filters, they are safer.

The most common misconception is that after the sun the skin becomes better
HOW TO AVOID ERRORS WHEN HOME CARE
As I said, acne treatment is a complex procedure. At home, you can’t completely get rid of acne, but proper care can ease the course of the disease.
The most important thing in-home care is proper cleansing. It is necessary to cleanse the skin twice a day, using means to restore pH and stimulate cell renewal. The composition of such funds should be acids and retinol. And it is better to consult a dermatologist for the correct appointments.
The second important principle is not to pick your face and not use a ton of foundation. Yes, it will be difficult, but all in a couple of weeks the person will thank you very much.
To find a tool that is right for you, you can only by trial and error. I definitely recommend pharmacy and professional products. Cosmetics from the mass market are likely to be effective after treatment to maintain the result since the concentration of active substances in it is usually less.
Try to avoid very oily products that contain petroleum jelly or paraffin, as well as emollients, emulsifiers, thickeners (lanolin, ministates, triglycerides) - these components can be good for dry skin, but not for oily. In addition, cosmetics with red pigments tend to cause irritation on sensitive skin.
ACNE SALON PROCEDURES
Most importantly, do not self-medicate. The doctor or cosmetologist should choose the salon procedure for you, depending on the condition of your skin and your wishes. Chemical peels, ozone therapy, massage with liquid nitrogen, injections of autoplastic, and collagen may be recommended, during remission - laser procedures and needle RF-lifting for scar correction.

With great care, you need to approach facial massage. A masseur may use a product that is not suitable for your skin, which will worsen its condition or lead to the appearance of cosmetic acne.
